I am no BT or Android expert at all. For what I've learned, one could also dig deeper into the communication of the smart glasses by sniffing the BLE traffic. By doing so, we would likely not need to rely on the device behaving according to the BT specifications but could also use heuristics on the encrypted traffic transmissions without much false positives.
